بسم اللّه الرّحمن الرحيم

اما بعد حمد اللّه على افضاله و الصلوة و السلام على اشرف الخلائق محمد و آله، فيقول افقر العباد الى رحمة اللّه الغنى محمد المشتهر ببهاء الدين العاملى وفقه اللّه للعمل فى يومه لغده قبل ان يخرج الامر من يده هذه نبذة من السوانح و جملة من الموانح قد سنح اكثرها فى طريق حج بيت اللّه الحرام و زيارة سيد الانام عليه و آله افضل الصلوة و السلام اثبتها فى هذه الاوراق تذكرة منى للاحباء الراغبين و الاخلاء الطالبين عهد الميثاق و على اللّه أتوكل و منه أستمد و به أستعين.

NAN VA HALVA ("BREAD AND SWEETMEAT")

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate.

Following the laudation in praise of God for His Beneficence and the giving of peace and blessings upon the most noble of creatures, Muhammad and his family,  the most  deprived of his servants (afqar al-`ibad) wholly dependent on the Mercy of God, Muhammad [who is] famous as Bahā’ al-Dīn al-Āmilī, may God accept his actions with [coming of] His Day [ of Judgement]

He completed most of it [this poem] in the course of his Hajj pilgrimage journey to the sanctified House of God [the Ka`ba in Mecca] and the visitation (ziyarat) the [Medina located tomb of the] lord of mortal men [Muhammad] (sayyid al-anam), upon him and his family be peace, 

          ايها اللاهى عن العهد القديم             ايها الساهى عن النهج القويم‏

          استمع ماذا يقول العندليب             حيث يروى من احاديث الحبيب

O Thou Divinity through the Ancient Covenant (al-ahd al-qadim).

O Thou Forgetful of the Upright Path (al-nahj al-qawwim).

Hearken ye unto whatsoever the Nightingale (al-`andalib) uttereth,

For he transmits according to traditions (ahadith) of the One Beloved (al-habib)
